The 1985 management issues forum conducted by the Conference Board
Article Abstract:
About one thousand chief executive officers (CEOs) were polled on the importance of technology to global economic conditions and to the future of international economic relations. The denationalization and deregulation of business, increasing protectionism and nationalism, new public attitudes on business, increased corporate political activity, and the realization that much of business is conducted on an international basis have together resulted in international turbulence. As business begins to grasp the implications of changing world events, management styles have become more flexible, responsive, and sensitive throughout.

Hot midsize companies: how their CEOs play to win
Article Abstract:
Mid-size growth firms have chief executive officers (CEOs) who are responsible for two important positions that will eventually come into conflict: they plan for a successful company and they enhance growth. The CEOs of successful companies have these common traits: they become obsessed with success; they are willing to take gambles; and they are builders and not bankers. Successful CEOs from mid-size companies direct their attentions mostly to the long-range course.

Navigating the garbage can: how agendas help managers cope with job realities

These agendas come in forms such as scribbled craps of paper, lists, charts and subconscious mental notes. The nature of the manager's job should affect the agenda-setting strategy. The effective use of agendas would allow managers to achieve broad organizational goals despite chaotic working conditions.
