The Gaps are Showing in Office Technology Training
Article Abstract:
The National Training Council (NTC) held a conference in Canberra on electronic technology which included office technology. The workshop addressed the state of generally inadequate training, especially in small business and educational institutions. Innovations occur too rapidly for technical education systems to keep up. More funding is needed for equipment and facilities for training and research. A study by NTC reported that word processing is becoming a standard business system function with financial applications coming in second.

Training Is a Hidden Cost When Buying Small Systems
Article Abstract:
Remington Office Machines Pty Ltd offers the Cado Computer Systems' CAT range of information systems starting with a micro and dual 1.2 Megabyte disks. A disk tutorial program with questions and tests on running the machine accompany the micro. The applications programs also supply lessons which teach not only how to use the program but basic business concepts. Remington claims this approach cuts down on hidden staff training costs.
