Internet and new media stocks face the risk of investor expectations that are much too high, driving stock prices up to artificial levels. This can lead to inevitable drops, and even though the stocks may be outperforming others, the drop affects company worth. Internet stocks are based on the highly speculative price-to-revenue multiple, rather than price-earnings.
