The Talk of the Pentagon
Article Abstract:
The Department of Defense has decided that all of the branches of the military should use one computer langugage. The language which has been decided upon is called Ada, and although it can handle all military functions, it is complicated and difficult to use, leading some observers to predict its doom. But regardless of Ada's eventual success or failure, the decision to create one language for the entire military is generating billions of dollars worth of business for companies - both large and small - who are working on developing Ada software and services, and Ada may become a major computer language for nonmilitary uses also.
