Victorian Government on September 24, 2003 announced that the American finance giant GE would build its main Asia-Pacific office in Melbourne, creating at least 1500 jobs. Victoria boasts that it is attracting people, capital, ideas and events to the state, but inspite of this big lure a period of slower growth is foreseen.
