The wider public has adopted technologies developed for the sight and/or hearing impaired. Some consumers use the text or audio description channels available for television programs. Others use text to voice retrieval services for email and faxes. Other applications include text to voice conversion using scanner/OCR/text recognition speech peripherals and Web browsers that narrate links as the user tabs over them.
