The impact of poor performance on risk-taking attitudes: a longitudinal study with a PLS causal modeling approach
Article Abstract:
A Partial Least Square (PLS) latent path model illustrates the validity of the Bowman hypothesis of troubled firms changing into risk-taking attitude to compensate for poor performances. The findings, consistent with the prospect theory in risk-return literature, suggest for companies to place more emphasis on inspirations during good times, and more on computation-type decisions during troubled times. Well-performing companies have the tendency to be risk averse and action avoiding, while poor performing ones have the tendency to be risk taking.

A prototype expert decision support system for the market appraisal of the single family residence
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate the development of a decision support system for the valuation of single family houses. The study assumes that current appraisal practices are excessively subjective and inconsistent across various property and time conditions. The system presents a method by which a more objective and consistent valuation technique may be used. Results support the application of such a method of housing appraisal.
