For the first time, the 4000 odd mortgage brokers in Australia are in deep trouble. The falling house prices, tougher regulations and the banking industry waking up to the opportunity on mortgages is posing a threat to the mortgage broker market. John Symond, managing director of Aussie Home Loans is taking a gamble; his plans to start a nationwide network of branches could make or mar him.
