The remarkable development of U.S.-Mexico trade
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the impact of NAFTA on trade between the United States and Mexico concludes that the rapid growth of the trade volume is a signature achievement of the economic treaty. Between 1993 and 1999, the article points out, U.S. exports to Mexico grew from $40.5 billion to $87 billion, and the total trade volume grew from $80.5 billion to $197 billion. This total volume is held to be a more salient factor than the often ballyhooed trade surplus.
