Singapore has a trade surplus in mid-1998 because of its drop in imports. Trade in May 1998 decreased 14.1% from May 1997, decreased 6.9% in Apr 1998 and increased only 2.5% in Mar 1998. Singapore's key electronic exports product sector had export revenue decrease by 6.7% in May 1998 when compared with export revenue from May 1997.
