Time for the Year-End Purge of Old Records
Article Abstract:
An organized method of culling records from files for archival storage or destruction is the sane way to go. One must first know the regulations for retention for legal purposes and good business practices. Carton numbers need to be listed to avoid duplication. The numbers may be coded according to departments. A carton should be no larger than one cubic foot. An archival index is updated with new entries and the dates for their destruction. A company retention policy together with the index information help to make the sorting problem easier. Leigh Records Management supplies specialized retention manuals for Australian companies.
