U.S. opens ties with Vietnam

The US officially restored full diplomatic relations with Vietnam on Aug 5, 1995, in a ceremony attended by Sec of State Warren Christopher and Vietnamese Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cam. In speeches given during his visit, Christopher pressed for more progress on MIA and human rights issues.

Supreme Court: 1995-96 term opens
Article Abstract:
On Oct 2, 1995 the Supreme Court opened although Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist was away recovering from surgery. Redistricting in Tennessee was approved but abortion clinic blocking was disapproved. Cases to be reviewed include new sentencing hearing for two of the beaters of Rodney King.
