Disney CEO Eisner's bonus was cut nearly 50% due to mediocre earnings
Article Abstract:
Walt Disney Co.'s Michael Eisner suffered a reduced bonus for 1998, that of $5 million, down from 1997's $9.9 million. The chairman and CEO and other executives took their bonus cuts due to a year that was high in investments and other costs, but low in profits, comparing 1998 to 1991. The bonus formula for Eisner will remain the same in 1999, but the formula is being revised to eliminate a skewering too far in either his or the company's favor.
