Prison concern agrees to settle inmate lawsuit
Article Abstract:
A tentative settlement in a class-action lawsuit against Corrections Corp. of America would allow for an award of $1.65 million to 1,900 inmates who were housed in a Youngstown, Ohio, prison. The case centered around undue violence at the prison and the settlement allows for the families of seven dead inmates to file separate lawsuits. Since the suit was filed CCA has been merged into Prison Realty Corp., the company that is expected to pay the settlement after an April 20th hearing.
