What if the CEOs find out?: The strategic positioning of project management
Article Abstract:
The concept of project management or managing organizations by project (MOBP) as a business strategy began in the 1960s. However, there are organizations that are not familiar with the concept or refuse to use the approach for the sake of internal politics. The MOBP calls for the company-wide application of management policies and principles used in handling projects. These methods are results-oriented and imply measurability and accountability, principles which put people on the defensive. In spite of these and other backlash, MOBP is a growing trend in the 1990s because it impacts budget and standards.

Tom Peters is behind the times
Article Abstract:
Business expert Tom Peters predicts that there will be a trend towards Managing Organizations by Projects (MOBP) in the project management sector. As shown in the 'PMBOK Guide,' MOBP is an overlap between general management and project management policies. Unlike project-driven settings, traditional functional-type organizations consider MOBP as a breakthrough concept. Its attributes include high qualification standards, strong executive management support and high level of project control.

Will the real stakeholders please stand up?
Article Abstract:
Stakeholders are groups or individuals that are directly affected by the results of the project. They include the investors and the people who influence the project's outcome. An approach to ensure that stakeholders avoid disaster is structured stakeholder management, which allows for comprehensive staging of events to increase the chances of project success.
