Some 178 representatives of member-nations and 23 observers attended the commemoration of the UN's 50th anniversary on Oct. 22-24, 1995 at the UN headquarters in New York, NY. Earlier, 185 member-nations pledged to reform the organization, which is saddled by financial and management troubles.

Relatives of MIAs from the Vietnam War heckled Pres Bush in Arlington, VA, on Jul 24, 1992. A total of 2,266 US military personnel still are considered MIAs. Bush seemed to lose his temper, although he claimed that he did not.
