140 million pounds sterling to Heritage projects, but not the V&A
Article Abstract:
The Heritage Lottery Fund has failed to decide in favour of supporting the reordering of the British Galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England. It believes that further work must be undertaken on the scheme before it can reach a decision. However, it has approved grants totalling 137 million pounds sterling for 23 other museum and archive projects. These include a grant of up to 2,500,000 pounds sterling for Cambridge University Library and a grant of 18,750,000 pounds sterling for the Tate Gallery of British Art.

Seven ways to expand a city
Article Abstract:
Architects at the University of Cambridge, England, assessed seven solutions for expansion of the city of Cambridge. They used computer modelling techniques to judge these seven solutions against three criteria concerning economic aspects, social equity and the quality of the environment. No solution proved to be perfect. One option, the concentration of all development near improved public transport links, scored reasonably well in all categories. The new town option scored well only in the environmental category.
