The V8 XM Edition is the new version of the MicroStation V8 generation of products and is built around an entirely new graphical user interface (GUI). Under design collaboration, Project Explorer allows users to open CAD and Office documents within MicroStation and attach hyperlinks to the drawing elements from locations within the Office document.

Most architects in the United Kingdom use the AutoCAD computer program, but some large firms use MicroStation. The introduction of MicroStation V8 which can be linked to AutoCad should be beneficial and its qualities are described.

An evaluation of the ArchiCAD V7 architectural 3-dimensional computer aided design modelling software is presented. The product is easy to use but the interface is outdated and there is a small user base in the United Kingdom.
