3Web free portal coming to TO, Van

Cybersurf Interactive Media of Calgary, Alberta, is funding the unveiling of its free 3Web Internet search engine in Toronto, Ontario, and Vancouver, British Columbia, in the fall of 1999, using a C$12-million funding from Call-Net Enterprises Inc. Ads placed on 3Web cannot be hidden or disabled because the ads are placed on the user's desktop rather than on the Internet. The portal also furnishes daily figures that allow marketers to know who is viewing their ads and how often.

TSN, Wendy's join CFL
Article Abstract:
Canadian cable television network, TSN, has created an in-house campaign in partnership with the Canadian Footbal League (CFL) and Wendy's Restaurant to increase the viewership of the network's coverage of CFL's Grey Cup. The campaign includes a contest wherein participants can win a trip to the Grey Cup in Calgary, Alberta, on Nov 26, 2000. Promotional materials that include three million tray liners will also be distributed with meals at Wendy's Restaurants across Canada.
