The slow, sad demise of Dylex
Article Abstract:
Canadian specialty apparel retain chain Dylex' collapse can be traced to its disastrous entry into the US market in the 1990s and the dispute between founders Wilfred Posluns and James Kay over the ownership of the company. It has sold assets one by one, the latest being the Tip Top Tailors chain and its head offices in Toronto, which were sold to Grafton- Fraser Inc. Its remaining assets include BiWay, Braemar, Fairweather, Thriftys and Labels chains. During its heyday, Dylex operated more than 3,000 stores across Canada.
