A foreign policy for America
Article Abstract:
The US has not been negatively affected by its changing and sometimes inconsistent approach to foreign policy since 1992. However, President Bill Clinton may no longer be able to continue with this approach to foreign policy in his second term. There is conflict in many parts of the world, and this will have to be managed. The US does not need to devise new foreign policies, but must apply the existing ones consistently and in cooperation with other countries.

Asia's flagging alliance
Article Abstract:
Pres Clinton will visit Japan in Apr 1996, to discuss the US's security alliance with Japan. This would be a good time to renegotiate the alliance, which promises US military defense of Japan in return for base locations in Asia. The end of the Cold War calls for a reevaluation of stability in Asia.
