A hybrid solution for the new Conran shop
Article Abstract:
Designers were influenced by two aspects of the original site and stables building when they chose a hybrid concrete solution for the Conran Shop in Marylebone High Street, London, UK. They retained the facade but then had to match both column spacing at the rear of the triangular site and floor levels with the two-storey arched frontage. The designers opted to use concrete and make a feature from their design limitations. They used pre-cast floor slabs together with beams and columns constructed on site and left the soffit exposed as a vaulted ceiling structure.
