Poland narrows bidders for Polska Kasa
Article Abstract:
Citigroup Inc. and UniCredito Italiano SpA have been chosen by Poland to conduct negotiations to acquire a majority share of Polska Kasa Opieki SA (Pekao). Pekao is the largest commercial bank in Poland. The two companies were selected from a list of five bidders. Up to 55% of Pekao is being sold by the Polish government. The bank has over 600 branches and owns nearly 20% of all Polish banking system's assets.
