JK Industries makes radial tyres for car and light commercial vehicles. It is a closely held company and invests in group companies. It has bought 7 million shares of JK Corp at Rs159 per share aggregating Rs112 crore. Its investments have been eroded by Rs96.7 crore to Rs15.3 crore. It has spent Rs480 crore on acquiring Vikrant Tyres and has tied up with Continental of Germany for radial tyres. It has diversified into pharmaceuticals and sugar. It has posted sales of Rs641.6 crore in the first half of 1998-99. (rk)
