AGROLIMEN GROUP TO TAKE DABUR's 49% STAKE IN JV

The Agrolimen group of Spain has decided to take over 49 percent stake in General De Confiteria India Ltd (GCI), which manufactures and markets confectionery products in India. GCI is a joint venture of the Agrolimen group and the Dabur. Under the deal the Agrolimen group will buy out Dabur's 49 percent stake in GCI. Agrolimen group, which already has 51 percent stake in GCI, will thus acquire the entire stake in the joint venture. The deal was finalised at a price of Rs35 crore. GCI's leading brands include Boomer, Bonkers and Donald. GCI has posted a net profit of Rs5.40 crore on a turnover of Rs91 crore in 1997-98. It has an equity capital of Rs18.98 crore. (gs)

CAMPCO TO PROCESS COCOA FOR CADBURY
Article Abstract:
The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co- operative Ltd (Campco) of Mangalore has tied-up with Cadbury India Ltd to crush and process around 2,000 tonnes of cocoa beans. Campco will process and extract cocoa butter from the cocoa beans supplied by Cadbury. Campco has already completed a previous agreement to process 200 tonnes of cocoa beans for Cadbury. The new agreement will bring Campco an additional revenue of Rs2 crore. The processing is to be undertaken at Campco's chocolate factory at Puttur in Karnataka. (khr)
