AFC TO TIE-UP WITH DUTCH FIRM, EXPLORE RURAL FINANCE

Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC), a Mumbai-based institution, plans to tie up with Dutch Rabobank group to take up joint consultancy work. The two will focus on the areas of agri- business, rural finance and co-operative credit in India and abroad. AFC is promoted by commercial banks and offers consultancy and credit related services to help in credit flow to agriculture and rural development. (um)

The rupee closed at 42.3950/40 to the dollar on March 26, 1999. The State Bank of India bought dollars on behalf of the Reserve Bank of India. Despite other banks quoting lower at 42.39, the higher bid of the State Bank of India at 42.40 remained the standard. (uh) (kvr)
