ALLIANZ AG-ALPIC JV TO FOCUS ON HIRE-PURCHASE, LEASING

Allianz AG and Alpic Finance are focusing on financing, leasing and hire purchase activities in India now. They had earlier planned a joint venture in insurance. Allianz Alpic Finance Corporation Limited will offer niche financial products. It has an equity base of Rs10 crore. Allianz AG will get its equity shares after the Reserve Bank of India clears the joint venture. The Foreign Investment Promotion Board has cleared the alliance. Alpic Finance and Allianz AG have signed an alliance for setting up health, general and life insurance companies in India and await the Government of India to open up the insurance sector. They have launched a risk management consultancy company - Allianz Alpic Industrial Risk Management Services Ltd - for insurance related services. (rk) (kvr)

JET AIR LEASING 8 ATRs TO SERVICE REGIONAL SECTOR
Article Abstract:
Jet Airways has leased eight ATR-72 aircraft from Aero Regional (International), a Franco-British group. The leased aircraft will be used to offer regional airline services in India. About five aircraft will be initially leased by Jet Airways. Jet may also consider leasing another three at a future date. It proposes to use the aircraft on the North-Eastern routes, thereby reporting a saving in operational cost. Jet Airways plans to run the aircraft on high density routes like Goa, Coimbatore, Baroda, Kochi and Srinagar. (ag)

SRB, K&M HEAD FOR A DIVORCE
Article Abstract:
SR Batliboi (SRB) and Kalyaniwalla and Mistry (K&M), 2 chartered accountants firms, are to separate. They had entered into a strategic alliance in April 1996. The separation is due to a mismatch of corporate cultures. Both SRB and K&M are now revamping their activities. They will be servicing their clients jointly until they finish the issues on hand. They will formally split in October 1998. (ag)
