AUSTRIA: COMBINED OFFER FROM ONE, PRIORITY

Article Abstract:

In Austria, the mobile phone operator One and the fixed network company Priority, subsidiary of Telekabel Wien, claim their cooperation to be unique worldwide. The first combined offer is called Take Two. For Sch 99, the partners offer a fixed-line connection and a Trium Galaxy mobile phone. The customer pays only one basic fee of Sch 198. The next two mobile phones cost a basic charge of Sch 66 each. Also a "professional set" with a Nokia 3210 phone is available for Sch 999. Here, the basic charge amounts to Sch 288 for the first mobile phone and to Sch 160 for the next two. Both the fixed-line and the mobile phone have the same telephone number. When calling the mobile, 0699-1 has to be dialled before the number.

AUSTRIA: VISA FOR PAYMENT OF PHONE BILLS

Article Abstract:

Visa reports that it is in talks with Mobilkom about the payment of phone bills by credit card. The company is already cooperating with the telephone companies Max.mobil, 1012Privat and Cybertron, which thus secure themselves against payment defaults. About 30,000 card-holders use the card for the payment of telephone bills. At the beginning of February 2000 both Visa and Mastercard are reducing the rates charged from retailers for payments by credit card. In 1999 Visa saw a 11.9% increase in turnover in Austria to Sch 31.9bn and Mastercard 12.5% to Sch 28.8bn.
