Article Abstract:
Austria's current account deficit grew to EUR 3.77bn between January and October 1999, compared with EUR 2.09bn in the same period of the previous year. Imports increased by 5% especially due to the increased oil prices and the keen demand for capital and consumer goods. Exports rose only by 4%. Surplus increased in the tourism sector.
