Together with Erste Bank and its Swedish partner Swedbank, Austrian savings banks are working on an internet banking platform. In a separate project, Austria's savings banks are developing an on-line brokerage service that is to be launched in September 2000. This is a reaction to the expected expansion of foreign direct banks, such as Comdirect Bank of Germany, on the Austrian market.
