Still in 1999, surfEU is to expand business to Germany and Switzerland and, by the middle of 2000, to Italy and Spain. In 2000, turnover should amount to Sch 100mn and the number of clients to 300,000. Profits are expected from 2001. The Web site www.surfeu.at is to be developed into a portal site for information, communication platforms and other offers.

Austria: job satisfaction decreases
Article Abstract:
Job satisfaction in Austria has decreased for the first time since spring 1998, according to a survey by the employment council (Arbeiterkammer). In particular women and young people are dissatisfied with their jobs, citing more time pressure and stress as reasons for their dissatisfaction. Women who are juggling a family and career are feeling especially pressurised. Wage satisfaction has decreased, and it is perceived that the status of the employee in society has decreased. Employees are also less satisfied with their promotion chances. The autumn 2001 employment climate index fell by three points to 108 compared with spring 2001, although the decrease for women who left school at the age of 16 was higher, falling by eight points to 101 points. Although 1,600 employees were consulted for the survey, it took place before 11 September, and it is expected that the situation has worsened since the attacks in the US.
