AUSTRIA: NIKI LAUDA RESIGNS
Article Abstract:
Niki Lauda has resigned from the board of directors of Lauda Air Luftfahrt AG, the airline he founded. This follows reports by auditors criticising the board. Lauda Air is believed to have made a loss of up to Sch 1bn in the financial year to 31 October 2000.

Article Abstract:
Christian Fitz will succeed Ferdinand Schmidt as director of Lauda Air from 1 August 2001. Fitz is responsible for aviation, technology and cabin service at Lauda, but has worked for Austrian Airlines as a pilot in the past. The division of responsibilities between Fitz and the other board member, Klaus Stoger, has not been settled yet.

AUSTRIA: AUA TAKES LUFTHANSA STAKE IN LAUDA AIR

Lufthansa has sold its remaining 8.9% stake in Lauda Air to Austrian Airlines AG (AUA). Thus the Austrian national carrier holds 67% of the stock of the troubled airline, while the rest is held by the private foundation of the founder, Mr Niki Lauda.
