Above-water warfare sensors for MPAs
Article Abstract:
Maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) attributes most of its functionality to above-water warfare sensors, including radar, ESM and electro-optics. These sensors are essential in facilitating the capability of MPA in terms of surveillance, reconnaissance, attack as well as command and control at sea and over land, aside from its original function in open-ocean anti- submarine warfare. Evolving technologies in MPA sensors are enabling MPAs to achieve real-time surveillance and targeting with the help of digital cameras.

Lords of the skies
Article Abstract:
The acquisitions of airborne early-warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft have beein increasing following several years of declining market. The sales growth has been attributed to the technological innovations, particularly in signal and data processing, which presently enable small platforms to have substantial capability. Another factor is the adoption by the manufacturers of an open-system architecture which allows buyers to customize the aircraft for their specific needs.

Digital leap brings airborned reconnaissance up to speed
Article Abstract:
Digital airborne reconnaissance cameras offer several advantages over conventional wet-film cameras such as easier image enhancement and data compression. In addition, the output can be directly transmitted in real time from an aircraft in flight to users on the surface. Electrooptical sensors allow the coverage of the spectral bandwidth from 500 nanometers to 900 nanometers while infrared sensors enables night operation.
