Aero in the whirl of billions
Article Abstract:
Aero Vodochody (AV) (Odolena Voda, Czech Republic), aircraft manufacturer, derives its 2000 development from the success of the sales of its fighter L-159 Alca. The Czech army should take 72 pieces of the aircraft. Besides, the fighter should be made in numerous export modifications, Boeing (US) planning to support its sales abroad. Boeing acquired a 35% stake in AV in 1998 within a consortium with Czech Airlines (CSA) (Czech Republic) for 950 mil Kc. The acquisition should help AV overcome the problems the company had at the beginning of the 1990s. Before the acquisition, the state decided to do financial restructuring at AV. The state paid a total of 3.9 bil Kc for the project in four stages.
