Airbus sees higher costs at China plant: plane maker expects increase in business to offset the expense
Article Abstract:
French aircraft manufacturer Airbus S.A.S. will incur higher assembly costs at its plant in China, but company officials expect that there will be sufficient new business in the country to counterbalance the additional expense. Airbus has established a 51% joint venture with a group of state-owned firms to begin production on A320 jets next year. The higher costs will result from shipping aircraft parts to China and from a longer manufacturing cycle.
