Aleksander Kwasniewski, a polished Pole
Article Abstract:
Polish president, Aleksander Kwasniewski, has developed good relations with leaders of richer countries, and has been sensitive in his relations with Poland's eastern neighbors. He is still criticised in Poland for his former links with the Polish United Workers' Party, a communist party, though he denies having been an ideologue. He has won the support of many Poles from the political center due to his efforts toward reconciliation, and he has been successful in relations with the European Union, acting as a champion of Poland's eastern neighbors.
