The new terminal at St Pancras, encounters the complexities of adding a contemporary extension to a Grade I-listed building. The RLE inherited FosterEs plans to extend the existing William Barlow-designed building at its northern end by the addition of a contemporary glazed shed.

Princely fallout
Article Abstract:
Prince Charles had criticized a proposed extension to the National Gallery in his speech in the 1980's, the effect of which was both devastating and immediate on UK's architectural professionals. It is said that the speech is still affecting the architectural planning process.

Riding to the rescue of the discredited decade
Article Abstract:
Many concrete buildings from the 1960s have been damned unfairly when their main failings were either poor workmanship or a failure to adapt to later needs. Some have been rescued because of their significant contribution to UK heritage.
