All eyes on the army but generals mark time
Article Abstract:
The military leaves Pakistan governance to elected politicians, avoiding the antimilitary sentiment caused by military government. Gen. Aslam Baig also promised transfer of power to Benazir Bhutto provided that she assures that major defense and foreign policies stay unaltered and she has the majority's support in the parliament. The possible impacts of Bhutto's election on Pakistan's military policies are discussed.
