Solzhenitsyn's status as Russia's most famous literary dissident emigre will change when he returns after a 19-year exile. Several anti-democratic, nationalist political groups are sure try to use his ardent pro-Russian views for their own political ends.

A May 1, 1993 demonstration in Moscow led by the National Salvation Front, an organization comprised of former communists, ardent nationalists, and fascists, became a riot when demonstrators clashed with police. Some 600 were injured in the event.
