All the fun of the Milan fair
Article Abstract:
The Fuori Salone is becoming a major feature of the important Milan International Furniture Show. Fuori Salone exhibitions are housed in a wide range of venues throughout Milan, including shops and empty properties. The local authority organised a range of activities, including Internet broadcasts, to promote the 1998 event. Major themes from the young designers exhibiting at the 1998 Fuori Salone included the 1950s look and the use of sand, rock and metal colours. Foreign designers working with Italian firms were more in evidence than in previous years.

Versatility on display at Cologne
Article Abstract:
Visitors to Cologne's Furniture Fair numbered around 123,000 compared to over 145,000 last year. There was a preponderance of refined, practical and available products, with a focus on multi-functionality. The show was dominated by seating, but there were interesting developments in storage systems through the use of frosted glass and aluminium. The glass/aluminium storage cabinet range by Kurt Erni has already won the Hanover Fair IF Design Award.
