United Technologies unit joins forces with Toshiba

United Technologies Corp. and Toshiba Corp.have combined efforts to create a new company named Carrier Corp. a joint venture to make air-conditioning equipment. United Technologies will contribute their $200 mil per year in annnual sales air-conditioning subsidiary as well as an unspecified amount of cash to become a 40% stake holder in the new venture. Toshiba will take a 60% stake in Carrier in it's continued effort to restucture many of it's subsidiaries into independent entities.

P&G to slash 15,000 jobs in six years in overhaul
Article Abstract:
Proctor and Gamble Co. has announced a reorganization plan, including 15,000 job cuts and the closure of ten factories, in an attempt to boost sales and streamline new product development. The new plan, which will create seven brand-centered business units, undercuts previous highly-ambitious sales forecasts in projecting 6% to 8% annual revenue growth. Industry analysts have said that the reorganization plan represents Proctor and Gamble's most radical management strategy.
