Article Abstract:
Siemens could acquire part of 3Com which has been losing theinterest of investors, despite ranking second among producers of computer network devices. The company has not been focused and has grown less rapidly than Cisco. An investment in US Robotics, a producer of modems, has created problems since modems are more likely to be built into computers and they have dropped in price since the acquisition. 3Com aims to retain its Palm computer, though part of the networking business could be sold.
