A first day cover was issued to 52,000 APS members during a ceremony for the issuing of new postal items on Mar 10, 1995. The cover features a sheep and a quote praising APS members. The APS Executive Director's name is Bob Lamb. Other events at the ceremony are discussed.

Peruvian mining incidents declining

Better government regulation and increased employer responsibility has reduced the occurrence of mining accidents in Peru by 43%, in spite of rising output. The country is still criticised for child labor in mines.
