America's sluggish recovery

The US Federal Reserve must hold prices stable by manipulating interest rates if the US is to continue economic recovery. Inflation is expected to increase because the Treasury is selling more short-term securities, industry is operating close to capacity and energy and payroll taxes may be raised.

Article Abstract:
The Federal Reserve Board decided against an increase in interest rates, even as GDP grew in the second quarter of 1996 a stunning 4.8% annual rate. Interest rates should gone up at least a quarter-point, as a way of stopping inflation before it starts.
