An Ice Card for the Hardware Hacker
Article Abstract:
In-circuit emulation (ICE) permits complete integration of hardware and software testing for users who want to create control applications and then transfer them to single board computers. The ICE II card from Rovino of Bath, at a price under 200 pounds provides ICE applications to be carried out by Apple II users. ICE II offers users the ability to load or configure printer spoolers and to install ICE and debug monitors, and to make use of a disc disassembler, an Apple RAM tester and an ICE tester. The card works well with the Apple but users must have a complete working knowledge of assembly language programming for the 6502 microprocessor. A sample in-circuit emulation program is included, along with a chart listing the debug facility functions and their switches.

A Versatile CP-M Card - But Take Care
Article Abstract:
The CP-M Card for Apple computers offers users software such as a DDT version that's been upgraded, a linker and a Z80 macro assembler, a symbolic instruction debugger and the usual CP-M utilities. It has several facilities. These include: a USER option -- this insures that one user's files do not get mixed up with another's; SET -- this sets options such as file, drive attributes and password protection; and SUBMIT -- this creates batch runs and job streams. Immediate effective use of the CP-M Card requires that users know something about CP-M itself; however, the inexperienced, because of thorough documentation, should feel confident that they can begin simply and progress to more sophisticated applications once their knowledge grows.

Think Tank: Translating the Language Card
Article Abstract:
The Apple 16K card used for language expansion in Pascal or CP-M is also able to run on alternate Integer BASIC loaded from the DOS 3.3 Master Disk. Using this card it is possible to enhance BASIC with more detailed error messages and provide a list of options by changing the Hello programs on the DOS 3.3 Master Disk. Making these changes will allow a text screen to be moved to a RAM card for future reference and then be recalled after reviewing the various error messages made on one's own program. Example BASIC instructions are shown.
