An interest in gas-steam cycles
Article Abstract:
VSZ Holding (Kosice, Slovakia), holding metallurgy company, will commission gas-steam equipment worth 102 mil DEM in August 2000. The equipment, which will be supplied by the consortium of Siemens (Germany), will burn the surplus of gases from the firm's metallurgy production and will produce 160 t of steam per hour. The equipment's electric output will be 85 MW. VSZ Holding will not be dependent on the supplies of electric power from the public network after the commissioning of the equipment. Besides, the firm will commission a gas-steam cycle from Siemens with an electric output of about 100 MW in Brno, the Czech Republic, by the end of 1998. The equipment will supply about 120 MW of heat and will improve the power situation in Brno. Besides, emissions in the locality will decrease.
