An international box standard for fruits and vegetables is on the way
Article Abstract:
Some of Europe's biggest packaging firms, such as Jefferson Smurfit of Ireland, Otor of France, SCA and Assi Domain of Sweden, Kappa of the Netherlands, along with the US' International Paper, have agreed to jointly design a cardboard box standard for vegetable and fruits. At present, vegetables and fruits are placed in boxes of more than 50 various shapes and sizes. Each year, an approximated 1 bil cardboard boxes are utilized for transporting vegetables and fruits through Europe.
