Analysts ponder CCT move; spin-off of HKNet could prove lucrative
Article Abstract:
CCT Telecom has risen as one of the most attractive Internet investment opportunities in Hong Kong since the stock market plunge of 1997. Its stock price has tripled to HK$1.66 since Apr 8, 1999, which is partly attributable to the news that it is spinning off HKNet, a subsidiary that connects people to the Internet. The sudden rise is indicative of the allure of the Internet which may also spell disaster for CCT which is playing in an intensely competitive business.
