Animated about architecture
Article Abstract:
Impact Interactive has gone from providing animated images of the interior of office buildings to creating animated images of whole building developments. The company was launched in May 1997. The architects employed by Impact interactive give support to other architects by offering to supply animated images of their building designs. The company is working on making short animated films featuring the future of the construction industry. Bryant Homes used Impact Interactive to show interested purchasers computer images of how their completed houses would look within the development.

Architecture on the move
Article Abstract:
A project in Sheffield, England, involved consultation with the general public about attitudes towards city-centre living. The project was based around a converted 1950s caravan which was taken into the city centre. Sheffield has many redundant buildings in the city centre, and the caravan promoted a display about the conversion of old buildings into housing. Passers-by also completed questionnaires and gave video-recorded interviews. The project revealed a mainly positive response to city-centre living and some good ideas for features in converted buildings.

Masterplanning Berlin: let us hope that the progressive approach to architecture and planning in Berlin finds favour in the UK
Article Abstract:
A visit to Berlin by a RIBA Housing Group is described, to observe the approach to architecture and planning. IBA developments were initiated in the 1980s to improve run-down quarters, in an attempt to restore the urban fabric. The development of Stadquartiere, started before the fall of the wall, is continuing. Such areas are purchased by small development corporations, who build the infrastructure, controlling the design with emphasis on quality in planning and architecture.
