Niceties about names

The decade beginning in 2000 has yet to be named, though there is a competition on the internet to find a name, and a number of suggestions have been offered. The twenty hundreds is a logical name, following the 1900s. This may appear too old-fashioned for some commentators, yet many other options, such as the millies may appear too frivolous. One possible name that could be used is the naughties, since it offers a feeling of fun, without problematic connotations.

Postel disputes: the Internet
Article Abstract:
Postel, the chairman of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, created controversy when he suggested that the domain name registry monopoly held by InterNic be divided between several firms. Some fear it will create anarchy. The Internet Ad Hoc Committee suggested that the responsibility be divided between a few companies.
